Everyone has their "thing". Some people really like animals, some people want to save the planet, some people want to feed the hungry. My thing is supporting small business, especially the cool ones. 2. And speaking of great local bands, my favorites This Hideous Strength These are some of the coolest guys I know and they make a mean potato salad. I am hoping they will play at Charlies again soon, since I missed the last show.

4. and of course my tiny, happy shop over at Etsy as well as all the (one million) other wonderful people there trying to make a living just doing what they love!
I am going to try to keep this short and let me tell you why. My mom said she stumbled across my blog the other day while trying to find my Etsy shop. And I was pleased and asked her did she read all of it (b/c I know this was her first time seeing it, despite numerous pleas for her to check it out). And she said "No, I just read the first entry. You write too much." soooo....

3. I am completely sorry I have no pictures to share with you of the birthday party. I am really trying to remember to take pictures of important events, but it seems to be hopeless. I did take this one of him with one of his favorite presents, a VERY realistic Darth Vadar maskthat makes the Vadar noises and even makes your voice sound like Darth Vadar. My baby is a Star Wars nerd.
4. Speaking of the birthday party.... On the small chance that any of my neighbors ever read this, I am SO sorry. I know we got a tiny bit loud over here that night. I tried to tell them that beer and slip-and-slide was a bad idea, but you know how people can be. And I am really sorry they thought to pull the trampoline up to the pool and do back flips. I know they all paid for it the next day and I hope that will be some consolation to you. I promise next time I will make them all leave by 3 am.
Ok, this is the third time I have tried to type up this post. Typepad ate my other two and I got so angry that I quit getting on here for a week. But looking back, I am kind of glad it did because of the ridiculously disgusting amount of gushing I did. What was all the blubbering about you ask? Why this lovely lady right here, PrettyinPeace. The condensed version of the two lost posts is that she is an awesome Etsy seller (I just happened to have snagged this lovely ring from her shop) whose wit and wisdom never fail to amuse and instruct. If I didn't think that it would scare the crap out of her, I would make a list of all my problems so that I could ask her advice on each one.

I feel bad because I really don't read that many blogs. The ones I do read are usually because I love the artists work so much and like to see there new work. And PrettyinPeace's blog is one of the few that I do read, but she is the one that nominated me. So lets see if I can find some more.

And she kindly gave me permission to use this art work as tattoo material. I have done the outline and it looks awesome. My baby no more! You are such a little man now. Three years old. These have been the longest, yet some how the fastest, three years of my life. I can not believe how much you have grown. I am so proud of you, so proud that I will never be able to fully express it. You are everything I have ever wanted in a child and more. You are like a little old man sometimes. You complain about how hot the weather is and how you don't want to get your new shoes dirty. For your birthday you got all of your favorite things and it makes me feel funny when I think that they were all big boy toys. You love Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Spiderman. Your favorite songs are Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire and the Misfits Die Monster Die. When we go to Starbucks, you sit there sipping your organic milk and eating your pumpkin loaf and trying to steal my coffee. You seem so much older. You love hanging out with all of our adult friends and they all love you so much. You had more grownups at your birthday party then children. But you are so much a child too. You make me feel young again when I didn't even realize how old I had begun to feel. You taught me how to slip and slide again. You love to sit in my lap and have me read books to you. You have my twisted sense of humor and the things you say never fail to crack me up! If I am having a rough day, you wrap your little arms around my neck and ask me if I am sad. And I say "no baby I am fine" so you kiss my nose and run off. It breaks my heart, the bitter sweet feeling that it will all be over too soon. If I could keep you at age three forever I might be tempted. Our relationship has grown with you though and I am kind of excited to see the future with you. You have become my friend, not just my son. Not the "I am going to be the cool mom and try to hang out with you and your buddies because I am scared of getting old" type of friend. But the type of friend who likes you because you are such an awesome person. I hope we will always be friends like this, even through the rough years. So happy third birthday. Thank you for being the best gift I ever received.
Scene opens with hugely pregnant young woman, driving along the deserted streets, windows down, blasting The Faint's "Take Me To The Hospital" on repeat. she pretends she is hard core by driving herself, when in reality she just doesn't want everyone to see that she is scared to death.
1:00 am- check into hospital, start drip for induction
2:00 am- it starts
4:30 am- Keith gets off of work and comes to the hospital
6:00 am- it hurts
8:00 am- mom shows up with video camera
9:00 am- doctor breaks water to speed things up. it really hurts
11:00 am- I feel like I am dying
12:00 pm- I am positive I am dying. and I am hungry.
1:00 pm- sadistic doctor has had his fun and calls for an epidural. I thought the epidural would be so much better.
2:00 pm- Now I actually am dying. blood pressure drops steadily as the nurses start running in.
3:00 pm- all of the pain in the entire world concentrates in my vagina.
4:00 pm- I change my mind. I don't want to have a baby.
7:00 pm- another epidural is given when they realize the first one didn't work
9:00 pm- panic sets in and my loved ones are forced to move my useless limbs for me like wicked puppet masters so that I don't lose my mind
10:00 pm- the time has come. no one can take anymore, so a c-section is agreed upon
10:30 pm- tell them not to worry, I shave my own pubes. They all laugh at me.
10:45 pm- am wheeled down the hallway. feel like a float at a really bad parade. wish I had candy to throw at all the people staring at me
11:20 pm- I am scared. I didn't realize that I would be awake for the whole thing. I am claustrophobic. do they have to tie my arms down? am I supposed to feel them yanking at my insides because it is really hurting my back? they say "kiss the baby" and tell Keith he can take him to the nursery. I don't want Keith to leave me. I resent the baby. My first thoughts as a mother are "I am already a horrible mother."
11:45 pm- the drugs are making me shiver uncontrollably. I am so tired.
12:00 am- they let me see you. you are the first pretty newborn I have ever seen. Where the hell did you get red hair from? and look, you have the same ugly little mole on your right ear that I do!
12:15 am- they do their tests and stuff. you just stare calmly out the window at your new family. I can already tell you have an ancient soul. you try to grab the stethoscope from the nurse with your monstrously large hands.
I can't believe it! My baby is going to turn 3 in a couple of weeks. We are going to have a beach themed birthday party so all of the cousins can break in the new pool. I made this for the invitations and A. loves it. Now he wants to go to the real beach.

Not much going on around here. We got a new pool and it is pretty darn big, so we have been out there swimming all day. We used to be the house the neighborhood kids avoided (I think because we are a little overzealous when it comes to Halloween decorating) but now they are all hanging around and being as nice as can be! Maybe I could get them to do yard work in exchange for swim time!
And this is A. who came in the office looking like that and said very seriously "I just like Spiderman." And that is not gang signs he is throwing. He informed me that that is how Spiderman shoots his web. What a stinker!
I have 2 new prints in the shop. This one is in honor of the Amazing Zombie Queen Anthrax's supposed near death experience.
and this one is just b/c I found the guy in a vintage book my mom gave me. It is one of those that you are supposed to record your family history in. My mom started it 25 years ago and only filled out about 3 pages! I love to read the stuff she wrote though. I wish she had done more.
